Delhi Capitals Franchise History
In the inaugural tournament held by the BCCI in 2008, there were initially 8 teams and the DC was a part of the first franchises that were built. The DC team was earlier known as the Delhi Daredevils which was later renamed to Delhi Capitals as Delhi is the capital of the country. The GMR group bought the team for US $84 Million.
In 2018, 50% stock of the team was sold to JSW Sports at US $63 Million as the value of the team had increased multifold. Although the team has not been able to perform very well, its performance and skills have definitely improved each year. As new players are made a part of the team, the expectations have risen from the team as a whole.
